Jeff Konzet, a U.S. Customs Service supervisor (now retired), has vivid memories of September 11, 2001. He was working at 6 World Trade Center that morning, where he was participating in a three-day seminar when the planes struck the World Trade Center towers. In the aftermath of the attacks, Konzet chronicled his experiences in an email to his close and extended family, providing a firsthand account of the events of that fateful and tragic day. Edward F. Geraghty & Thomas P. DeAngleis
Twenty-five years after 9/11, Maureen Geraghty, who grew up in Valley Stream, shared the story of her family’s profound loss and the extraordinary love that emerged from the darkness. She lost her brother, Edward F. Geraghty, battalion chief, FDNY. Battalion 9. She also lost her brother-in-law, Thomas P. DeAngleis, battalion chief, FDNY. Battalion 8. The Geraghty's lived on Oliver Street
Maureen's story was sponsored by the New Vision Center for Spiritual Healing. These communities teach a New Thought philosophy that brings religion and science together and offers spiritual tools to transform personal lives and help make the world a better place. You can listen to Maureen's moving and heart-wrenching recount of the day after 9/11 on the link below.
"Through story, music, reflection, and healing, we’ll remember what brought us together—and discover what 9/12, the day after, still has to teach us."
